This is a free laser cut chandelier project, a wooden pendant light body built from 27 flat parts and drawn for 3 mm sheet material. The form is open and ribbed rather than a closed shade: 24 identical curved ribs run from top to bottom, and 3 nested rings thread through them to hold the body in shape. Assembled, it stands 311 mm high with a 275 mm diameter, the scale of a real hanging pendant light. The files are supplied for laser cutting workflows in DXF, SVG, CDR, DWG, and PDF.
How the 24 Ribs and 3 Rings Build the Chandelier
The whole body comes from two part types. Each of the 24 ribs is the same curved profile, narrow at the top and flaring through the lower middle, which is what gives the finished chandelier its rounded, slightly tapered silhouette. Every rib carries 3 notches along its length, and the 3 rings drop into those notches at three different heights. As you seat each ring, the ribs are pulled into an even circle and held at their spacing, so the loose flat parts come together into an open cage. There is no closed panel anywhere in the body; the light and the view pass straight through the gaps between the ribs.
We kept the structure deliberately open, and one decision drove the rest of the design: there is no lower ring to carry the bulb and socket down inside the body. A holder ring at the bottom would have been the easy way to support the socket, but it would also sit right in the light path and close off the underside, which is exactly the open character this chandelier is built around. The smallest inner ring carries six small openings spaced evenly around its center, so light can pass upward toward the ceiling as well as out through the ribbed sides, and the open look holds from every angle. That is the real design work here: holding the form with only ribs and rings, and letting light move through it instead of trapping it.
Cutting and Hardware Notes for 3 mm Material
The parts are drawn for 3 mm sheet material, and the ring notches are sized to that nominal thickness, so the final fit should be checked against your actual 3 mm sheet and kerf before cutting the full set. Real sheet stock varies a little by manufacturer, humidity, and quality, so the fit depends on the material you actually run, and a quick test on one notch before a full sheet is a good idea.
A few practical points before cutting:
- Drawn for 3 mm sheet material
- Common laser sheet materials such as plywood, MDF, or wood sheet suit this kind of body
- Each rib has 3 notches; the 3 rings seat into them at three heights
- Measure your actual sheet thickness and run a test notch first
- All 24 ribs are used in the build; they are not spares
These files cover the wooden chandelier body only. Bulb, socket, cord, ceiling canopy, and pendant fittings are not part of the cut set, so the hanging detail can be planned with local pendant-light hardware. One common approach is a cable that fits snugly through the top center opening to carry the body, sometimes with a thin decorative tube or a small grip piece behind the socket; we source these locally, and the right fitting will depend on what is available to you. An LED bulb is a sensible choice here, because it keeps heat lower than older bulb types and suits the open wooden body.

All five formats come together in a single ZIP. Open the format that matches your software, check the notch fit against your actual 3 mm sheet, then cut the 24 ribs and 3 rings and thread the rings through the rib notches to build the body.
