Free wooden doll cradle laser cut toy idea, a rocking doll bed project made from sheet material.

This is a free wooden doll cradle laser cut project drawn for flat sheet assembly. The main rocking cradle body is made from 4 mm material, and the separate heart, crown, and side decorations are drawn for 3 mm material and glued onto the body after cutting. The files are supplied in DXF, SVG, CDR, DWG, and PDF formats for laser cutting workflows.

We drew this cradle for 30 cm dolls, using an inner floor area sized for that doll scale rather than only drawing a decorative cradle outline. The detailed dimensions are listed after the download button, so the main text can focus on how the flat parts form the rocking body.

Wooden Rocking Doll Cradle Design

The cradle is built around five structural body parts: two rocking end panels, two long side panels, and one base panel. The end panels create the rocking profile at the bottom, carry the oval handle openings near the top, and hold the side panels in position through the slot layout. The long panels form the cradle sides, while the base panel closes the lower bed area.

We kept the long side panels open rather than drawing them as solid boards. The repeated vertical openings give the cradle a slatted toy bed look, reduce the heavy wall effect, and leave a centered heart cutout on each side. The result is still a flat part laser cut project, but the assembled object reads clearly as a small rocking cradle.

The 3 mm decoration pieces are separate from the 4 mm structure. Hearts, crowns, and small side ornaments can be cut from thinner material and glued onto the cradle body after assembly. That separation lets the main body stay structural while the surface detail can be handled as a second visual layer. You can cut the decorations from the same sheet color for a quieter look, or use a contrasting material for a stronger layered effect.

Cutting Notes for 4 mm and 3 mm Sheet Material

The file uses two material thicknesses. The main cradle body is drawn for 4 mm sheet material, and the glued decorative pieces are drawn for 3 mm sheet material.

The slots are drawn as nominal geometry, not as a universal fit guarantee. Measure your actual sheet with calipers, check your laser kerf, and adjust kerf compensation, offset, or slot width according to your own machine and material before cutting the full project.

A few practical notes before cutting:

  • Measure your actual 4 mm sheet with calipers before cutting the body parts
  • Check your laser kerf on a small test slot
  • Adjust kerf compensation, offset, or slot width according to your own machine and material
  • Cut the 3 mm decorative pieces separately and glue them onto the cradle body after assembly
  • Suitable laser cut materials can include plywood, MDF, wood sheet, or similar sheet material
  • If the finished cradle will be handled by children, sand the cut edges and choose suitable non-toxic finishes

This project is primarily intended for laser cutting. If someone adapts it for a CNC router, they would need a small-diameter cutter, roughly 1/8 inch or smaller, and would need to optimize the toolpaths, internal radii, and slot behavior themselves. The drawing should not be treated as a direct router-ready file without that workshop adjustment.

Download the Wooden Doll Cradle Laser Cut Files

Download the files from the download page, open the format that matches your laser cutting software, and cut the 4 mm body parts before adding the 3 mm decorations. Before cutting the full cradle, test the slot fit with your actual sheet material so the nominal drawing geometry matches your own kerf and machine settings.
