Flat daisy, lily and rose STL and STEP models with recessed flower-shaped bodies and separate solid petals, leaves and stems.

I prepared these daisy, lily and rose models in two arrangements: separate solid flower shapes and flower-shaped bodies with recessed details. Both arrangements are available as free STL and STEP downloads for 3D printing preparation and CAD work.

In the three contoured bodies, I set the flower details just 0.015 mm below the surrounding surface. The overall body thickness is 3 mm, so the recessed petals, leaves and stems still have material beneath them. Their depth needs to be adjusted to suit the piece you intend to make.

Recessed Flowers and Paint Stencils

The contoured models keep each flower within a single shaped body. For a decorative panel or a separate floral piece, the recess depth determines how strongly the petals and leaves stand out from the surrounding surface. A deeper recess can give the rose’s curled center a more pronounced engraved appearance, while the outer contour defines the edge of the piece.

A paint stencil needs a different adjustment. The petal, leaf and stem regions must pass through the full body thickness so paint can reach the surface underneath. Removing the material beneath those regions creates the openings, while the connecting strips between them keep the stencil together. Printing the supplied shallow recesses alone would leave the flower areas closed.

Working with the STL and STEP Files

The STEP file, supplied with the STP extension, contains CAD solids. It provides a starting point for changing the recess depth, opening the flower regions through the body or adjusting the overall thickness. After those changes, the finished model can be exported as a mesh for printing.

The STL contains the supplied arrangements as a triangle mesh for slicer work. Selecting the required parts and setting their print size prepares the layout, but scaling also changes the shallow recess proportionally. It does not set the recess depth independently. Any necessary depth changes should therefore be made in the geometry before slicing, followed by a check of the flower details in the layer preview.

The separate solid petals, leaves and stems offer another treatment. When placed on a backing, they give the flower a raised surface instead of a recessed one. Keeping their relative positions preserves the spaces that describe the flower. For example, the lily pieces could form a raised decoration on a contrasting display panel.

In CAD, those separate pieces can also become part of another solid. For a raised rose on a box lid, position the rose pieces so they extend slightly into the lid, then unite them with it. This produces one model containing both the lid and its floral detail.

Download the Free Daisy, Lily and Rose STL and STEP Files

The models are available as two separate downloads. Each file contains the complete arranged collection:

  • STL: triangle mesh with 38,172 triangles and 76 connected components.
  • STP: STEP AP214 model containing 76 CAD solids.
  • Collection: three recessed flower-shaped bodies and 73 separate solid motif pieces.
  • Overall body thickness: 3 mm in STEP, and 3 mm when the STL is interpreted in millimetres.
  • Recess depth in the three contoured designs: 0.015 mm, to be adjusted for your project.

Download the STL for slicer preparation or the STP for solid-model changes in CAD. Select the flower and arrangement you need, then set the detail depth for a decorative piece or create through-openings for a paint stencil. Save the adjusted model before preparing it for printing or further CAD work.
