Valentine’s Day is a very old tradition. It is a romantic day when people show their love by presenting gifts to another person, such as cards, flowers, jewelry and chocolates with messages of love. This day takes its name from an ancient saint named St Valentine.
Saint Valentine is a priest who has become a symbol of love. The legend of Saint Valentine, which gave its name to February 14, which is considered a special day all over the world, dates back to the 3rd century. During his reign, Claudius II, a cruel ruler in Rome, was on the throne. He forbade soldiers from marrying because he believed married men were bad soldiers. Believing that the edict was unjust, Valentine defied Claudius and continued to marry the lovers in a Christian ceremony. When Claudius learned of this, Valentine was imprisoned and sentenced to death for disobeying his orders. During his days in the dungeon, he fell in love with the guard’s daughter. While on his way to execution on February 14, he sent her a signed love letter from “your lover”.
