Open this download and you get four butterfly SVG files in one ZIP, each butterfly in its own file. There is no single crowded sheet to untangle: you pick the design you want, drop it into your cutting software, and it comes in as one clean butterfly that you can size for your project. If you have ever opened a combined SVG and spent ten minutes ungrouping shapes just to isolate the one design you needed, this is the opposite of that.
How each butterfly is drawn matters more than it sounds, especially if you cut vinyl or paper. These are drawn as filled shapes, not as thin outlines. The reason is practical. When a design is built from thin outlines, the cutting machine sees the thickness of each line and cuts down both sides of it, so a single line you wanted comes out as two cuts with a sliver of material falling away between them. A filled shape has no line thickness for the machine to second-guess. It follows the real edge of the butterfly instead of turning a line thickness into two parallel cuts. That is the whole reason these files were prepared as filled silhouettes instead of line drawings.
The detail inside the wings, the flowers, dots, vein cells, and leaves, is joined back to the body rather than sitting as loose shapes. So each butterfly is drawn to cut as one connected piece when the scale and material are suitable, instead of leaving you to fish small fallen bits out of the mat and place them back by hand.
Each butterfly is drawn at a 25 cm width, and because SVG is vector, you are not stuck with that size. Scale a butterfly up for a wall decal or down for a card front and the shape stays true. The one thing to watch is the two floral designs, the daisy-and-vine and the rose: their interior detail is fine, so before you cut either of them small, check the size against your blade or laser so the thin parts still hold.
File details:
- File type: SVG, supplied as a ZIP
- Designs included: 4 butterflies, one SVG file each
- Drawing type: filled silhouettes, not thin outlines, so the machine follows the real edge instead of cutting both sides of a line
- Design width: 25 cm per butterfly, scalable up or down
- Connected detail: interior detail joined to the body, drawn to cut as one piece at a suitable scale
- Works with: Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio, vinyl cutters, SVG-compatible laser software, vector editors
- Before cutting small: check the size on the two floral designs
