The drawings provide the 15 pieces that form the complete box, including its lid and lifting handle. Nine flat panels surround the center to create the rounded appearance without bending the material. The pattern uses nominal 3 mm sheet material, and the assembled box measures approximately 160 mm wide, 162 mm deep and 106 mm high, including the handle.
Before preparing the files, it helps to understand how the lid works. A solid nine-sided piece sits beneath the decorative top and enters the box opening when you close it. This insert keeps the lid aligned. The two interlocking handle pieces connect through both lid layers, helping hold them together while reducing reliance on glue.
Preparing the Wooden Box Files for Laser Cutting
Start by choosing the file format your software supports, then check the imported scale against the nominal 3 mm joint geometry. You can arrange the parts to suit your own sheet and machine table. Keep all nine side panels in your cutting layout, together with the base, upper frame, lid pieces and handle pieces, to preserve the complete 15-piece assembly.
The drawings include both cutting and engraving geometry. The cut lines define the parts, joint slots and decorative openings. The separate engraving layer adds linework around the flower-like edges and the center of the lid. Assign these lines to an engraving operation in your laser software so they receive the intended treatment.
Choose suitable plywood, MDF or wood sheet according to the appearance you want and the material your machine can process. Because actual sheet thickness can differ from its nominal label, measure your stock and prepare the joint fit for your own cutting conditions. If you change the overall size, the slots and tabs will change too, so check that they still correspond to the selected material.
Keep a copy of the original drawings while preparing your working files. This gives you a reference if you rearrange the parts or adjust the joints, and makes it easier to compare your changes with the supplied pattern.
