Set of four black and white owl vector designs: leafy circle, log owl, open-wing owl, and bare-branch owl

This is a free set of four original owl designs, drawn by hand in AutoCAD as black and white vector art. Each one is a connected cutwork owl: the detailed line work and interior negative spaces are tied back into the body, so the artwork reads as one piece rather than a scatter of separate marks. The faces and poses keep the owl’s old wisdom and night-watcher feeling, while the file structure keeps the designs practical for cutting, printing, engraving, graphic design, and 3D work.

The decision that defines this set is that every owl is drawn as one connected piece. There are no loose interior islands, the small floating shapes that would need bridges or tabs to hold them in place and would otherwise drop out of the design when it is cut. The feathers, leaves, eyes, and branch detail are all tied back into the body, so each owl reads as intricate cutwork while still coming off the laser or CNC table as one piece in a single piece. That same connection is what keeps the silhouettes clean when they are used flat, as transparent PNG clipart or scalable black graphics, because nothing in the artwork depends on a part sitting unattached.

Owl in a Leafy Circle

A front-facing owl sits inside a round frame, perched on leafy branches that curl up both sides and close the circle at the top. It is the most symmetrical and ornamental design in the set, and the calm, straight-on gaze gives it the wise, watchful feeling people read into owls. Because the foliage connects all the way around the ring, the whole emblem stays together as one cuttable design, which makes it a natural centerpiece for a round wall panel, a clock face, or a layered mandala-style craft.

Owl on a Log

This owl stands side-on atop a solid cut log, head turned back over its shoulder in a sharp, guarded glance. The log gives the design a heavy, planted base, and the side-turned body makes it feel more grounded and weighty than the open-wing owl. Two pieces of careful drawing sit underneath that look: the growth rings inside the log are connected into the owl’s tail rather than left as loose circles, and the beak is tied into the eye and the detail around it from both sides. Both choices keep the face sharp and the log decorative while solving the one-piece cut problem, so nothing drops free when the design is run on a machine.

Open-Wing Owl

Here the wings are spread wide and lifted, the widest design in the collection. The shape is mirrored around a strong central axis, with the two spread wings carrying most of the visual mass and the body and talons anchoring the middle. What makes it work as cutwork is that all of that feather detail across both wings stays part of one connected form, so even at its most open and busy the design comes off the bed in a single piece. The symmetry makes it a strong focal piece where that mirrored spread can anchor a wall on its own.

Owl on a Bare Branch

The last owl perches alone on a thin, angled branch, facing straight ahead with a direct stare, a few small leaves trailing off the base. Against the open-wing owl’s motion, this one is still and quiet, and that contrast is the point of having both. The off-center branch and the trailing leaves give it an asymmetric balance, so it pairs well with the log owl as a facing set or stands on its own as the quieter design of the four.

All four owls are drawn at their own artistic proportions and set to a 250 mm height in the vector files, a size chosen to fit comfortably on the beds of common craft cutting machines. Because they are scalable vectors, you are not tied to that number: size them up for a larger wall panel or down for smaller work, scaling each design to your machine and material. They were designed mainly for wall art and decorative objects, so they are meant to be made at roughly 25 cm and above. Take them much smaller and the closely packed feather lines can start to close up, so watch the fine detail if you scale down.

Seven File Formats

Every design is available in seven formats, each on its own download page:

  • SVG: scalable owl vectors for both cutting and graphic design, clean connected cutwork.
  • PNG: high-resolution transparent black owl clipart for print, posters, and digital design.
  • PDF: printable Letter-size owl outline templates for tracing, coloring, transfer, and hand cutting.
  • DXF: closed-contour geometry for laser, CNC, and plasma cutting
  • DWG: editable 2D CAD drawings and blocks for AutoCAD and compatible software.
  • CDR: editable CorelDRAW line art for recoloring, fills, and print preparation
  • STL: single-height extrusions of the owl drawings for 3D printing, ornaments, and relief pieces.

All four owl designs are free to download, each format on its own page so you can go straight to the one your project needs. Choose your owl, open it in your cutting or design software, and scale it to your machine and material before you start. If you are not sure which format suits the work, the SVG and DXF files are the usual starting points for cutting, while the PNG and PDF files suit printing, tracing, and graphic use.
